Often part of a mesophyll (PO:0006070). This term does not include spaces on the surface of a plant structure, like a stomatal pore (PO:0008032), stomium (PO:0020101), or micropyle (PO:0020025), nor larger cavities or canals that are surrounded by tissue, such as an archegonium neck canal (PO:0030066). May be filled with air or fluid.
