Term Information

Accession
GO:0099526
Name
presynapse to nucleus signaling pathway
Ontology
biological_process
Synonyms
presynaptic signaling to nucleus
Alternate IDs
None
Definition
The series of molecular signals that conveys information from the presynapse to the nucleus via cytoskeletal transport of a protein from a presynapse to the component to the nucleus where it affects biochemical processes that occur in the nucleus (e.g DNA transcription, mRNA splicing, or DNA/histone modifications). Source: PMID:24317321, PMID:25652077, GOC:dos
Comment
This class does not cover the cellular machinery (motor proteins, cargo-recognition proteins) that transports the signaling protein along the cytoskeleton towards the nucleus. For these cases, annotate to the appropriate transport/trafficking term.
