Name
ribonuclease P complex
Ontology
cellular_component
Synonyms
RNase P complex
Alternate IDs
None
Definition
A ribonucleoprotein complex that catalyzes cleavage of the leader sequence of precursor tRNAs (pre-tRNAs), generating the mature 5' end of tRNAs. Source: PMID:12045094, GOC:mah
Comment
Note that chloroplasts possess a complex that is called 'RNase P' because it catalyzes pre-tRNA cleavage, but the chloroplast complex appears not to contain RNA.
